PISCUAA 8TH Season

    The 8th season of the Philippine Interschool, Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (PISCUAA) opening ceremony was held at the Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City last July 24, 2009. It started with the energetic intermission dance numbers from its member schools and colleges including a modern dance number from D’ Navigators, the official dance troupe of PMMS. Ten schools are participating in the said league namely EARIST, PLP, UC, TUP, UDM, AIMS, SDSC, URS and, of course, PMMS.

    The opening ceremony started with the invocation led by Mr. Darwin Diola and Ms. Analyn Abadis and the singing of the National Anthem. It was followed by the opening address given by Dr. Godofredo E. Gallega, President of TUP and Chairman of PISCUAA and the introduction of guest speaker done by Justice Artemio G. Tuquero, President of UDM. The guest speaker is none other than Hon. Alfredo S. Lim, Mayor of Manila.  Finally, Dr. Godofredo E. Gallega declares the opening of the Season 8 of the PISCUAA games. Prior to the start of the game was the Oath of Sportsmanship and Ceremonial Tossing of Ball.

    The teams scheduled for the opening games of the league are UDM versus UC, and followed by PMMS versus TUP and EARIST versus SDSC. The whole astrodome were filled with wild cheers and cries of fans as our team, the PMMS “Mariners”,  triumphs over our opponent, the TUP “Gray Hawks”, whose final score in this matchup  is 105-39. The other scheduled games will be held on other institutions.
